Term 2, Week 10 2021
Dear Community Members
As we conclude another term I would like to acknowledge the work and achievements that have occurred over the past 10 weeks.
As Principal, it is always a privilege to witness the ongoing commitment of our staff and students to our Dominican Community. Teaching and Learning has been our priority once again this term and it has been uplifting to read and sign all student semester reports and hearing about the learning that has taken place.
I am pleased to advise that at its June meeting, the Infrastructure, Planning & Development Committee at the Catholic Education Office, endorsed the application for approval of a Master Plan for Dominican School, Semaphore.
The motion carried was as follows:
That IPAD Committee endorse the request from Dominican School, Semaphore to have its Master Plan considered and approved as a basis for future regeneration and development of the school site.
This means that we can now move to the design phase with our Architect, Brown Falconer. I look forward to sharing these developments with you.
Last Wednesday our Director of Catholic Education South Australia, Dr Neil McGoran visited Dominican School. This was a highly successful visit where Dr Neil witnessed our school in action. He was extremely impressed with the teaching and learning that was taking place during his time with us. Dr McGoran met with all Staff and Board Members and engaged in rich dialogue about all aspects of our school. He was photographed with some of our students which will feature in The Advertiser in August.
I would like to thank all members of our school community who assist in so many ways to ensure that we continue to achieve new levels of excellence. I sincerely wish all families a safe and enjoyable holiday break.
Term 3 commences on Monday 19 July and I look forward to welcoming you back to the new term.
Kind regards
Phil Holmes, PRINCIPAL
Vinnies Winter Appeal
I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Whatever you did for one of the least of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25: 35-40
Many thanks to you all for your support of our Can Drive for the VINNIES WINTER APPEAL. It was wonderful to see our school community give so generously with the MANY donations of tinned goods. We have collected a total of 244 cans of food. Dennis Kennedy, the President of our local Vinnies, will be visiting on Thursday to collect our donations. Dennis has expressed his gratitude to our school community for our generous support. These donations will be bundled into food hampers for local families in need. We are a community of faith in action living with love to make a positive difference to those less fortunate. Our Justice Leaders have been instrumental in raising awareness of the work of St Vincent de Paul and promoting this initiative to provide outreach to those doing it tough this winter. This gift of food donations will go a long way to helping the needy in our local community this winter. THANK YOU.

Congratulations to our St Clair Out of School Hours Netball and Basketball Teams that played in finals week last week!
We are so proud of the way the students played with persistence, enthusiasm and great sportsmanship.
Congratulations to Coach Leanne and the 4/5 netball team on coming 1st and finishing the season undefeated. The other teams played very competitively and came a very close second. Thank you to all our coaches for their brilliant support throughout the season.
