Dear Community Members
Welcome to Week 8!
DISA Survey Reminder—closes today at 5.00pm!
Earlier this term I sent all families an email regarding our school improvement initiative where I spoke about school improvement being a whole-school effort and that success is informed by a cohesive and clearly articulated direction that is identified by the school community, particularly the students, staff and parents/carers.
DISA will provide Dominican School with the means to identify our perceived strengths as well as areas requiring work and gaps that need attention.
It is expected that we receive 30% of our families complete the survey. My personal expectation is that we achieve 100% of our families to complete the survey.
As you know Dominican School is embarking on a new era of education. As we strive to achieve New Levels of Excellence here at Dominican School, so that can be the best we can be, I would like to thank those families that have completed the survey and remind those who haven’t to please do so. New court area-WOW
Our new court surface has now been completed including improved fencing and I am sure you would agree that it has made a significant improvement to our school environment and a new and exciting place for our students to enjoy. Please come and have a look when you get a chance. Please view our video this week!
Pedagogical Coach appointment- a new role at Dominican!
I am delighted to announce that I have appointed Mr Nick Ryan to the role of Pedagogical Coach here at Dominican. Nick will be the leader of learning in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy R-6 and will use the following strategies to enhance student outcomes;
- a focus on data and the students the data represents;
- structured Literacy and Numeracy times for all students that are evidence based, with high impact instructional strategies;
- assisting teachers to link curriculum understandings and their classroom pedagogy;
- a case management approach to monitoring individual student progress;
Nick will work closely with the Leadership Team and the School Quality and Performance Team here at Dominican. Nick comes to us from St Michael’s College with a wealth of experience in leading teaching and learning. This is an excellent appointment and I look forward to introducing Nick to our community in Term 2 as we continue to strive to be the best school we can be.
I look forward to seeing you at our Learning Conversations next week.
Have a great week!
Kind regards,
Phil Holmes
