Dear Community Members,
Welcome to Week 4!
Volunteers Week
This week we recognise, celebrate and thank volunteers for the vital role they play in our lives and especially here in our Dominican community.
Never has this been more evident than after a year where Australia has dealt with drought, devastating bushfires, floods and then a global pandemic. Amidst the pandemic, while many of us stayed home, volunteers continued to deliver essential services, organise food packages and offer care, comfort and more to support the well-being of Australians.
Volunteers make our communities stronger, especially during times of need, crisis or isolation. Dominican School has a strong sense of community and we are well known for this. I would like to thank all of our volunteers here at Dominican who help each day in a variety of ways who help make Dominican School the best it can be. Thank you!
Quiz Night
The Parents and Friend committee are busy in preparing for our Quiz Night to be held in Term 3 on Saturday August 28 here at Dominican School. So please save the date and further information will be shared leading up to this event. Quiz Nights are always a great night out and a fantastic way to build community. There will be both an Auction and a Silent Auction on the night so we are looking for donations wherever we can. If you have the ability to access auction items I would love to hear from you as soon as possible.
Walk Safely to School Day
Last Friday over 75% of our students modified their journey to school to celebrate Walk Safely to school Day. Well done to all of those involved. Our Drop Off and Pick Up Zone is an ongoing safety issue and I am committed to this being improved as best we can with the support of our Parents, Families and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council.
Can I please ask that Drivers remain in their vehicles both in the mornings and afternoons and vacate the zone as soon as possible. In the afternoons I ask that if cars are banked up that Drivers continue driving around the block until the traffic eases. I appreciate your anticipated cooperation with this important safety matter.
Have a great week!
Kind regards,
Phil Holmes, Principal
